Quang Tri: Determined to start construction of LNG Power Center project in December
The above information was said by Standing Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong, after a meeting with the representative of the project investor this morning, November 22 in Quang Tri.
Currently, investors propose two upcoming options to launch the project, including: Investment certificate award ceremony and project ground-breaking; and the ground-breaking ceremony of the project phase 1 - technical infrastructure.
The People's Committee of Quang Tri province agreed to choose the second option - which is to start the project phase 1 - the technical infrastructure part will be carried out in December.
The Provincial People's Committee has assigned the Economic Zone Management Board to act as the focal point, coordinate with relevant departments, branches and localities to remove obstacles, accelerate the implementation of related tasks and provide maximum support. Previously, on October 7, 2021, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province awarded the Decision on investment policy and approved the investor of the Hai Lang LNG Project Phase I (investment capital of nearly 54,000 billion VND) for the Complex. investors, including: T&T Group, Hanwha Energy Joint Stock Company (Hanwha), South Korea Power Corporation (KOSPO) and Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS).
Hai Lang LNG project (phase I) is located in 2 communes Hai An and Hai Ba (Hai Lang district), located in the energy complex in Southeast Quang Tri economic zone. With a scale of more than 120 hectares, the project will build Hai Lang LNG Warehouse Center - Phase I to receive LNG tankers from 170,000 to 226,000 m3, capacity to receive 1.5 million tons of LNG/year and Power Center Hai Lang Power - Phase I, with a generating capacity of 1,500 MW.
The total investment capital of the first phase of the project is up to nearly 54,000 billion VND (more than 2.3 billion USD).
Specifically, T&T Group contributes 40% of the investment capital and 3 enterprises HANWHA, KOSPO, KOGAS will contribute 60% to the key energy project of Quang Tri province, gradually contributing to realizing the goal of bringing Quang Tri to Quang Tri province become the energy center of the central region by 2030.

Beneath solar panels, the seeds of opportunity sprout
Traditionally, large solar installations are deployed on land that is first leveled, removing much of the topsoil and vegetation. After the mounting racks and solar panels are installed, the ground is covered in gravel or turf grass. With low-impact solar development, the ground may also be leveled in some places, but the topsoil is preserved. After the panels are installed, native and other beneficial vegetation—often friendly to bees and other pollinators—is planted.
The deep roots of native vegetation retain more water than turf grass and gravel during heavy storms and periods of drought. They also help retain topsoil and improve soil health over time, even in “brownfield” areas with polluted soils.
