O Mon III and IV Power Plant Project: Unable to commit to progress and efficiency
Without comprehensive and detailed access to information, records and documents related to the O Mon III Power Plant Project, the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN) cannot commit to progress and efficiency at this time.
PVN propose the Government to have a decision to assign PVN to be the investor of O Mon III and O Mon IV power plants in early June 2023. At the same time, the ministries/sectors/localities provide guidance, as well as support on procedures and roadmaps for project handover, and EVN is responsible for supporting coordination in the transfer of all documents and information about these two projects so that PVN has a basis to evaluate, report and propose next steps for implementation.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade establishes an inspection team on electricity supply and management
According to Decision No. 1377/QD-BCT dated June 8, 2023 of the Minister of Industry and Trade on the establishment of a specialized inspection team in accordance with the law on electricity supply and management of EVN and related units for period from January 1, 2021, to June 1, 2023.
The specialized inspection team includes leaders of the Electricity Regulatory Authority, the Electricity and Renewable Energy Department, the Department of Safety and Environment, Legal Department, Inspectorate of Ministry, Department of Planning and Finance, Department of Petroleum and Coal..
2 more thermal power plants are back in operation
After completing the repair work, from June 13, Unit 1 of Nghi Son 1 Thermal Power Plant was officially put into operation again, contributing an additional 7 million kWh per day to the Northern power grid, reducing the pressure of power shortage. Previously, Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant also resumed operation at 100% capacity. Thus, from June 13, the northern power grid has an additional 20 million kWh per day.
Drought causes hydroelectricity to run out of water, the North cuts off electricity every hour
A report on June 8 by the Department of Industrial Safety and Environment Technology of the Ministry of Industry and Trade shows that up to 11 hydropower plants across the country have stopped generating electricity.
Specifically, there are 9 hydroelectric reservoirs at dead water level, including: Lai Chau, Son La, Thac Ba, Tuyen Quang, Ban Ve, Hua Na, Trung Son, Thac Mo, and Tri An.
In addition, there are 11 hydropower plants that have to stop generating electricity because the flow and lake water level are not guaranteed, such as: Son La, Lai Chau, Huoi Quang, Thac Ba, Tuyen Quang, Ban Ve, Hua Na, Trung Son, Tri An, Dai Ninh, Pleikrong.

A series of hydroelectric plants are pledged, banks are selling them to recover bad debts
BIDV has just announced the auction of debts of two corporate customers, Duc Nhan Dak Psi Hydropower Joint Stock Company and Hoang Nhi Co., Ltd.
Accordingly, the auctioned assets include many real estates including: Dak Psi hydropower plant with a capacity of 18 MW; Construction material factory in Tra Da industrial zone, Pleiku city, Gia Lai province; along with real estate are houses and land in Gia Lai and Kon Tum.
In May, BIDV Gia Lai branch also auctioned for the 11th time the Tan Thuong hydropower plant project in Tan Lam commune, Di Linh district and Tan Thanh commune, Lam Ha district, Lam Dong province by Tan Thuong Energy Joint Stock Company as an investor.
